Baby Constantine {Taylor, Mi newborn/baby photographer Metro Detroit/ Wayne county}

I can not explain to you how thrilled i was to have a boy coming into the studio. After a long string of 12 (YES 12!!!) newborn girls in a row, I was dying to use my boy props. When Constantine came in, he was a 10 day old little bundle of joy. Calm for the most part, but he made us work for it at the end. I decided I had to photograph him in my little wagon, and I DID! lol. Scroll down and see how perfect he is!

Britney Senior 2014 {Taylor, Mi senior photographer Metro Detroit/ Wayne county}

It was a pleasure to work with a girl that could have a career in modeling. So natural in front of the camera, and beautiful as well! Britney is an amazing girl who’s personality matches how beautiful she is.  It was such a pleasure to work with her. She wanted a fall session for the colors that I love just as much as she, and well, we got those colors. Check out this beautiful lady!

A family affair – [Detroit Metro – Downriver – Taylor – Michigan Photography]

Let me tell you…. I have to give big props to this family! You see the blond lady… well, this is her chase, out of her living room. When I saw it, I knew I would have to put it in a field…. and as you can tell, I did.

This group of amazing people are the most kind and generous individuals that I have ever met. When I moved to Texas, I knew no one. Everyone was friendly, but no one was willing to take me under their wing and give me the friendship I was yearning for dearly. Then, at a school get together, DeAnn was forced to come to my table when her daughter joined us (lol) and ever since, our friendship stuck. DeAnn is my other half, the one person who I think actually understood me completely. She is older then me, and had many more of life’s triumphs that I loved to learn from every day. DeAnn is married to a man that wears his heart on his shoulder as much as she. A mans man who doesn’t take anyone’s bull crap… I have no idea why My husband got along so well with him! Soon after becoming friends with De and Will, I was introduced to her sister, Cara, who is an amazing woman as well. So much like me with our “I am going to say what I want to say, if you don’t like it don’t listen” attitude. I was more in love with this family as ever. Then, De’s some came back to Texas to live and brought his girlfriend. James and Raychel soon became a  part of our life in Texas as well.

I love this whole family as if they are my own. When I got the news we were moving back to Michigan, I was sooooo happy to be coming back to my friends and family, but was so upset I had to leave my new family. This family will forever hold a place in my heart and will always be considered to me as my family!

Enjoy their beautiful faces!

Erica & Andy [Enagaged] – Metro Detroit – Taylor, Mi – Downriver Wedding Photographer

I was so excited to get two of my GORGEOUS friends in front of my camera! It amazed me at how easy going they were during the entire session. They have been together  for a few years now, but that spark is still between them. With every touch, every look into the others eyes, it was more than pure love, there was also heat and need rolled into one. There was no question that they wanted to be with each other, but also, no question that they down right need each other. They are a PERFECT fit, no question about it.. You can tell this couple is deeply in love and committed to each other with just one look at them. I swear, I could not have asked for a better session! Andy’s funny nature and the way that Erica just laughs at him (lol… true) is something for anyone to be in awe of. Here are my favorites from their session (and one funny one thrown in their for laughs!)

I took the kids out for a quick shoot to get some pictures of them on their new bikes that Nana and Papa bought them (My Mom and Dad) since they are still in Michigan and we are in the great state of Texas (I had to show them what they bought the twins for their Bday… since I picked it out! lol) During this session I decided to get some silhouettes as I have not done so in a while, love how these two turned out and thought I should share!!

Maternity & Family [Metro Detroit – Taylor, Mi – Downriver Newborn/Maternity Photographer]

Let me tell you, I have done quite a few Maternity sessions in my time, but never once, never, have a seen this type of glow! Mayra is is the spokesperson of the “perfect pregnant woman club” ( I may have made that up, but if there was one, maybe even president.. really). I loved every moment working with her, she is an amazing person, inside and out (did I mention how beautiful she is?… Well, she is)

Mayra contacted me for a Intimate Maternity shoot, as well as some family images. Well, families just have to be outdoors, so, at 2pm we went out in high sun with no clouds to filer any light and baked outside for their family session (this location is in my sub about a block from me house.. lucky, I know) Besides the humidity and sun on our soldiers, we rocked it!! Then we went back to my home, let her children play with mine to keep them occupied and headed into the studio…. where the air conditioner quit working! LOL… but regardless of the heat, (and the noise of 3 shop fans) she rocked the session like a seasoned model! See, she is amazing!! (Don’t worry clients, air has been fixed.. haha)

I would also like to add… she loves her man! When I wanted a “true” smile out of her, I just told her to look at him! The way her eyes sparkled and whole being just lit up by making eye contact with his was truthfully astonishing. The love they share is amazing and such an inspiration!

Here are some highlights from their GORG session!

You’re a Photographer with NO talent! [Metro Detroit – Taylor, Mi – Downriver Photographer]

Metro Detroit, Mi / Fort Worth / Dallas / Hurst, TX Photographer {Custom Photography}

As many photographers, when I first started out I had big hopes and dreams. I thought I was a good photographer, decent at least. I started my Facebook fan page, and started networking with other photographers and prop shops. Doing so, I got very discouraged, seeing how beautiful and crisp other photog’s photo’s were, mine just didn’t stand up next to them. I booked my first Wedding, it was a long time friend of mines wedding, and that’s when I got even more discouraged. A more established photographer who I had met and worked with personally (that is all I will say) wanted to book the wedding as well, and got very upset when she told him she was going with me. He then went on to post on Facebook

“Pisses me off that these Brides book a photographer who has absolutely no talent, when there is talent sitting right in front of their face”.

When I read his post, I knew it was about me. At the time, I was jealous of his work, and thought he may have a reason to be saying the things he was. I had been getting more Portrait sessions, reading more books, watching more tutorials, and growing every shoot. I knew it, and I was happy with my work, even though I still had room to grow. But then again he writes

“I don’t understand all these people are booking sessions with her, she has no talent”.

By that time, I was out to prove something. I was out to prove that I was talented. At first, I wanted to “show him”, but at the end of the day, it was for myself. I stopped looking at other people work who had already developed their skill and wishing I could be that good. I started looking at myself and seeing what I could improve, what I wasn’t getting. I took a couple workshops on posing and practiced with my camera, natural lighting techniques and studio lights whenever possible. I ordered new books on editing, and spent hours on YouTube.com watching tutorials. I did my homework. I upgraded my equipment (for me, it really helped) and I am happy at the place I am at. Not trying to be cocky, but I actually blow his images out of the water now, and he has completely stopped talking to me. Truthfully, it makes me feel good, but it inst important, I would like to see him grow as well, just loose the attitude in the mean time.

I guess, the main lesson of this story is, don’t listen to others that put you down. Also, don’t put others down that you think aren’t as good as you. Encourage them, if it bothers you that they are that bad and you think you are so much better, help them! At the end of the day all that matters is that you believe in yourself. Do not compare yourself to others, find inspiration from them to nurture your inner talent. One day, those photographers may be taking inspiration from you. You don’t get that far ahead  being jealous, you dig yourself into a rut! AND, no matter how good you get, you can always get better, so no giving up!

I know that I still have lessons and techniques to learn, but I am better then I was a year ago, and next year, I will be even better! I know that I have an eye for photography, but I still have more skills to learn (photography is ever growing, new techniques and lessons are to be learned everyday)

I would like to add, when I started out doing studio portraits, I was teaching myself my camera and also my studio lights at the same time… So I am pretty darn proud that they aren’t MORE of a mess!!! lol

Now, here are some shots from when I first started taking clients, over 4 years ago……

Here is some of my work a little over 3 years ago.. when I started “getting it” a little more!

Sorry for so many images, it was hard for me to pick which ones I wanted to share! But, as you can see, anyone can grow, you just have to believe in yourself and do your homework! I am excited to grow more over the next year! (Do you love how I can never keep a logo for that long.. lol.. always re-branding!!!)
